About eMastering:
The “e” in eMastering stands for many things: expertise, emotion, ears, energy, evolution…
but above all, it stands for Erwin Maas.
A career shaped by experience
Erwin began his mastering career at Koch Music MM, a Dutch label, part of the Austrian record company Koch Music International.
There, he worked on productions for leading Dutch artists and was part of the production team responsible for recording, mixing, and mastering numerous Dutch hits.
In 2001, he joined Sony Music Entertainment Netherlands, expanding his work to international projects.
Driven by a desire for greater independence, deeper craftsmanship, and the freedom to develop his own sound, Erwin founded eMastering in 2002.
Following the merger between Sony and BMG in 2005, he chose to pursue his own path and dedicate himself fully to the growth of eMastering.
A trusted name in mastering
More than twenty years later, eMastering has become a trusted name in the Dutch — and international — music scene.
Known for his wide musical taste and refined objectivity, Erwin blends technical precision with a musician’s intuition.
With his background as a bass player and his love for classical music, pop, jazz, rock and (P)FUNK!, he instinctively knows what every production needs to truly come alive.
A mentor, a builder, a craftsman
Alongside his mastering work, Erwin is passionate about sharing his knowledge and experience.
As a teacher and mentor, he guides young mastering engineers, passing on his eye for detail and love for the craft to a new generation.
That same sense of dedication and perfection is reflected in his passion for designing and building his own studios — a fusion of vision, experience, and craftsmanship that has become second nature to him.
Where everything comes together
His latest studio, “The Two,” embodies that spirit: an idea born on the beach of Piana in the summer of 2024, realized as a Master Ready studio in September 2025.
A place where everything comes together.
The essence of mastering music
At eMastering, the “e” is more than a letter.
It’s a signature, a signal, a sound… Erwin!
